PENNS WOODS 

Pretzels in the Sanko household go back to Marc's grad student days at WVU, where we would go to Oktoberfest parties, and since he was always good at cooking, he decided to try soft pretzels. They were, of course, delicious, and they became the thing that we would bring as our contribution.

Fast-forward to us having our children and celebrating their birthday parties. We prepare everything for the parties, so a natural addition to the party is soft pretzels, a classic staple to any Pennsylvania family event. Family and friends said they were so good they would pay for them. Then we brought them around to other picnics, gatherings, etc., that we were invited to for more people to try them. They are a hit everywhere we went, so we decided it was time to make it into a small business, leading us to the name Penns Woods Pretzel Company. It's something fun that we get to build together, and the kids are even involved, which makes it special for a multitude of reasons.
